Another main dish salad from my 40 year old standby, my Betty Crocker cookbook. The original recipe calls for 2 cloves crushed garlic, which you can feel free to add for a very different taste, but if you know me you know I'm not a garlic person. Read more My son's favorite dish as a teenager and young adult was "Tuna and Shells". I used to make big batches of it and put it in dollar store plastic bowls when he first left home, so he wouldn't starve to death. I prefer small shells, but they are sometimes hard to find. - 7 ounce package shell macaroni
- 1 cup cubed Cheddar cheese
- 1 regular size can tuna, drained
- 3/4 cup chopped sweet pickles
- 1/3 cup minced onion
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper

Ingredients

7 ounce package shell macaroni shopping list
1 cup cubed cheddar cheese shopping list
1 regular size can tuna, drained shopping list
3/4 cup chopped sweet pickles shopping list
1/3 cup minced onion shopping list
1 cup mayonnaise shopping list
3/4 tsp salt shopping list
1/4 tsp pepper shopping list

How to make it

Cook macaroni as directed on package.
Drain macaroni, rinse with cold water until it is cool and drain until it is dry or you will have watery pasta.
In a large bowl, mix together macaroni, cheese, tuna, pickles and onion.
In a small bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients together well for the dressing.
Pour dressing over salad and toss gently to coat completely.
Cover and put in refrigerator to chill for several hours. Best if made the night before.

My boyfriend LOVES tuna. I love garlic so would likely add it back in, but even without it this sounds great, thanks for sharing!
