Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Combine 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 cup butter and eggs in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Reduce speed to low; add all remaining cookie ingredients. Beat until well mixed.
  • Stir together 3 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1 1/4 inch balls; roll in sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
  • Immediately insert 3 licorice pieces into each side of cookie for legs. Cool completely.
  • Combine powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons butter and vanilla in small bowl. Beat at medium speed, gradually adding enough milk for desired spreading consistency. Tint with food color, if desired.
  • Frost cooled cookies. Place gumdrop on cookie to form head. Cut additional 1/8-inch pieces of licorice; place on frosting for spots.

Those are adorable - and look like a fun project with the kids. I think I will try these this weekend when my 4 year old granddaughter is with us...she loves being in the kitchen, and I love baking with her!! Thanks for the great idea.
