Ingredients

How to make it

  • In bowl combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and oatmeal
  • Cut in butter until crumbly
  • Press *half * of mixture in ungreased pan*
  • Spread jam over top
  • Sprinkle remaining crumbs on top
  • Bake at 350 degrees for asbout 20-25 minutes or until golden
  • *NOTE: Can make them in a square, small rectangle or larger rectangle pan. The larger pan will produce thinner bars.

    I make this recipe a lot and it is a great and easy go-to dessert. Plus, as you noted, you can use any jam....I like apricot preserves, but have tried it a number of ways and they're all good. I also like tossing in a handful of toasted walnuts, chopped. Great post, Rosemary - you get a big 5 from me! And I'm making some of these later today to take to work tomorrow. Two versions - apricot and strawberry. Thanks! :) Vickie
