CREAMY BEEF STROGANOFF This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Kimmel Estate in Justin, Texas in 1994.

Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 pounds sirloin steak
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 pound chopped mushrooms
  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 package egg noodles uncooked

Directions
  1. Cut meat into strips.
  2. Melt margarine in skillet and cook mushrooms and onion until onion is tender.
  3. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet brown meat over medium heat.
  5. Stir in 1 cup water, bouillon, chili sauce, garlic, salt, basil and nutmeg.
  6. Reduce heat then cover and simmer 15 minutes.
  7. While meat mixture is simmering prepare noodles according to package directions.
  8. Mix 1/2 cup water and flour then stir into meat mixture.
  9. Add mushrooms and onions then bring to a boil stirring constantly.
  10. Boil one minute then stir in sour cream then immediately serve over noodles.
