How to make it

  • Mix together wheat flour and all purpose in medium mixing bowl or food processor..
  • Add salt , 1 tsp oil and water(a little at a time until you get a heavy but pliable dough)
  • Keep dough covered with a damp towel and let sit for a few minutes while you heat the oil..
  • Make small balls and roll out into 4 to 5 diameter circles onto a flour surface .
  • Fry in hot oil.
  • The poori should puff up a little.
  • Cook until golden brown (just a few seconds).
  • Flip and cook the other side.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Sprinkle with salt if desired.
  • Serve with Soups, stews, or curries.

    yeah.. this is a classic indian bread.. i have had it many times with those hot mashed garbanzo beans... quite interesting but down homey feeling food. sometimes the simple things can't be beat.
