Foamy Chocolate Cake

Another cake from Gr Grandma Laura.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or shortening shopping list
- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 3 lg eggs - Separated whites beaten to soft peaks shopping list
- 3 squares bitter chocolate - melted shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1/2 cake compressed yeast shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 3/4 cups cake flour shopping list
- 1 tsp soda shopping list
- 3 Tbs hot water shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla shopping list
How to make it
- Cream butter and sugar, beat well; add egg yolks
- Next the melted chocolate and the milk
- Add the yeast which has been mixed in luke warm water.
- Add the flour and salt and beaten in well
- Add the beaten egg whites
- Allow to stand overnight (cover lightly with tea towel)
- In the morning, add the soda dissolved in 3 Tbs hot water and vanilla
- Bake in slow oven (350 degrees F) about 35 minutes.
- Makes 2 fair sized loaf or 1 extra large layer cake.
