Plum Kuchen Recipe
When plums are ripe on the tree, or in the market, this is one recipe to try. We love it in our family. I have a recipe for Plum Custard Kuchen which is very rich and delish, but also more fattening than this one.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter at room temp.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar plus 1 tablespoon for topping
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/4 lbs. Italian or blue plums, quartered
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice
  • pinch of cinnamon

Directions
  1. Cream together butter and 1 cup sugar until well blended; beat in eggs, then flour and baking powder. Beat to mix well; turn into buttered 9-inch springform pan.
  2. Place plum quarters on top of batter, close together in circles starting at the outside, in a flower or petal pattern. Sprinkle with lemon juice.
  3. Mix remaining sugar with cinnamon; sprinkle over top.
  4. Bake in center of 350F oven for 1 hour or until cake tester in center comes out clean and top is golden brown.
  5. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream, slightly sweetened, or low-fat yogurt or vanilla ice cream.

Hi, Joymarie....been heavy into gardening and taking care of a preemy, babygirl foal. She is very precious and doing well (2 weeks old). I just posted the more fattening one. I made this one tonight and dh loved it (so did I). I only make this when my blue plums are ripe. They got frostbite this year, so only had a few. I plan on posting a little more now that the crunch is off a bit. Then I will be picking like mad and making my freezer marinara. Woman's work is never done. LOL


Love it! quick and easy to put together, and hour to bake and waalaa...plum kuchen easier than grandma used to make! thanks for sharing.
