These are great chickpea burgers - I'm not sure how well they'd do on a grill. I cooked them on a non-stick skillet.

*I added about 3 sprigs of oregano, chopped.
*Instead of bread crumbs, I used oats. I blended them with the chickpeas until mostly blended, but still a bit chunky. During blending, I added some of the cooking water from the garbanzos to make blending easy.
*I added about 3-4T flour
*I coated each burger with a small amount of corn flour.

Sounds very good. The rest of the family demand meat in their burgers but I really enjoy a veggie burger....this is a must try.

A great recipe - and for me adding the extra breadcrumbs did help a great deal to hold the burgers together. Indeed I made three lots, the first without the extra breadcrumbs - which broke up a little on the grill, the second and third (shared this one with my vegetarian yoga teacher and her husband) worked perfectly. :)

Today I made these burgers for some visitors here... but I changed the recipe a bit, and I think I enjoy my newer version better. Changes:
*I added about 3 sprigs of oregano, chopped.
*Instead of bread crumbs, I used oats. I blended them with the chickpeas until mostly blended, but still a bit chunky. During blending, I added some of the cooking water from the garbanzos to make blending easy.
*I added about 3-4T flour
*I coated each burger with a small amount of corn flour.
