Nouveau Quiche Recipe

Nouveau Quiche Recipe
I made this quiche when I was in a creative mood and found that using habanero enhanced flavor without adding heat. It's awesome! You can substitute the chicken for lobster or shrimp, or make it veggie by using artichoke chunks. Its perfect.

Ingredients
  • 1.) 1 Deep Dish pie shell
  • 2.) 1 1/2 cup Shredded Kraft Mexican Style 4 Cheese blend. It has cheddar, jack, adero and quesadilla cheeses if you dont have access to the exact same thing.
  • 3.) 1/2 cup asiago, parmesean, romano cheese blend.
  • 4.) 8oz Plain Yogurt/water mixture...mix yogurt with water until the consistency of heavy cream. Use low fat if you want to, or use Heavy Cream if you prefer. Should be about 4-6 ounces of yogurt and the rest water. Whisk with a fork to blend it well.
  • 5.) 4 Large Eggs
  • 6.) 6 thinly sliced medium sized mushrooms
  • 7.) 3/4 cup julienne zucchini
  • 8.) 3/4 cup of cooked chicken chunks, cooked shrimp or lobster, or artichoke chunks. I think if u used artichoke bottoms instead of baby artichokes it would be better.
  • 9.) 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 10.) 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 11.) 1 tsp sea salt
  • 12.) 1 tsp finely diced fresh, orange habanero pepper. This can be increased to taste. At this amount, you wont feel the heat, so if you prefer double it and make it a more intense flavor.
  • 13.) 1 clove garlic, very thinly sliced or crushed.
  • 14.) Fresh cilantro, asiago cheese blend and Sriracha (Rooster) sauce for garnish.

Directions
  1. 1.) Bake pie shell on 250 F for 20 min or so. Poke holes in it with a fork to prevent bubbles from forming. It should be light golden brown.
  2. 2.) Turn oven up to 325 F when pie shell is out.
  3. 3.) Blend wet ingredients in large bowl, beating in eggs one at a time.
  4. 4. ) Mix in cheeses.
  5. 5.) Stir in dry ingredients.
  6. 6.) Pour mixture into pie crust, dont worry if the crust is hot still.
  7. 7.) Bake at 325 for 1 hour.
  8. 8.) Check on quiche, you may find it is not completely dry in the middle on top like I did. To solve this problem, i turned the oven up to 400 F and let it sit in there for about 7-10 more min, and then the top was perfect.
  9. 9.) Serve this quiche hot, it is much better this way...cool for about 10 min and then slice while hot from the oven.
  10. 10.) Serve each slice with a sprig of fresh cilantro, a stripe of rooster sauce and sprinkle a little asiago cheese blend on top.
  11. 11.) This goes great with a caesar salad.
