Creamed Lettuce

- 1 bunch leaf lettuce, washed and patted dry shopping list
- 1/2 c heavy or whipping cream* shopping list
- 1/4 c cider vinegar* shopping list
- 1/4 c white sugar* shopping list
- salt & pepper* shopping list
How to make it
- Place a layer of lettuce in bottom of serving bowl.
- Sprinkle with a little of the cream.
- Follow with a sprinkle of sugar, then vinegar.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Repeat with remaining ingreds. , as many layers as needed.
- DO NOT stir.
- Allow to sit in fridge for 30 minutes.
- Toss and enjoy.
- * All amounts are approximate. This is one of those old-timers that you just add til it looks right to your taste. The lettuce wilts and kind of soaks up some of the cream. I like leftovers but most people probably won't.

This sounds awesome to me. A definite good use of lettuce. Will be trying as we eat some sort of lettuce just about daily. Great post.

Oh my goodness, I had forgotten this recipe, does this ever remind me of Mema and Nana....wonderful stuff. Have to make this very soon.
