St Patricks Day Scones Recipe
I love scones.... They are good even down here in the south were corn bread and biscuits reigns..My dad's family was from Ireland so I have a hankering for the irish.

Ingredients
  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups dark raisins
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Egg wash:
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Whisk together first 4 ingredients in a bowl; gradually mix in raisins
  3. so they are evenly distributed.
  4. Add butter in small cubes and mix in with fingers or pastry blender until evenly blended.
  5. Whisk together eggs and milk in a small bowl; gradually stir into
  6. flour mixture until dough forms; working dough with hands if necessary; but do not overwork.
  7. Drop scant 1/2 cup amounts of dough onto 2 greased baking sheets.
  8. Lightly brush each scone with egg wash.
  9. In two batches, bake scones in 350 degree oven for 20 to 23 minutes.
