Ingredients
  • 6 cups sour cherries
  • 6 cups sugar
  • 1/2 t. allspice
  • dash of cloves
  • 2 pouches of Certo liquid pectin

Directions
  1. The hardest part is removing the pits !! My friend Susan suggested using a straw to push them through and it worked great.
  2. Wash, pit, chop the cherries.
  3. Put all ingredients in saucepan and bring to full rolling boil stirring constantly.
  4. Stir in both packets of liquid pectin.
  5. Stir while bringing back to full boil, one more minute.
  6. Ladle into jars. Seal.
  7. I just keep in fridge as they are gone fast.
  8. You can freeze.

Sour cherries are my favorite, and now in season! I am actually using them in cakes that require peaches or apricots and replace them. Great recipe!


These cherries were picked in my son's backyard !
Two days later.....jam in his fridge !
