Easy Strawberry Syrup

- 1 pint fresh strawberries, halved and mashed slightly shopping list
- 1 cup white sugar shopping list
- 3/4 light corn syrup shopping list
- 2tsp nutmeg, ground shopping list
- **strawberries should yield about 1 cup of liquid...adjust sugar amount per taste, as well as amount of liquid yielded** shopping list
How to make it
- In medium saucepan, cook strawberries over medium heat, stirring occasionally until they boil.
- Carefully strain berries using cheesecloth or jam strainer.
- Return juice only back to pan and add sugar and syrup.
- Cook over medium heat, again, bringing it to a full boil and continue to boil 1 minute.
- Stir in nutmeg.
- If a "foam" forms on the top, just skim it off.
- You can serve this immediately or it can be stored in the fridge.
