this is a recipe I got from one of my Christmas cook books but with red raspberries coming in this is the perfect time to make it....the prep time does not include the time that the raspberries marinate in the vinegar...I was also thinking of trying... More

Ingredients
  • 12 ounces white wine vinegar.... 1 1/2 cups
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 - 1 1/2 cups fresh red raspberries

Directions
  1. combine vinegar and sugar in a non aluminum 2-quart sauce pan
  2. heat until very hot, stirring occasionally
  3. DO NOT BOIL.... ( if the vinegar boils it will become cloudy)
  4. pour into a bowl or a 1 quart glass jar
  5. stir in raspberries...
  6. cover with plastic wrap..
  7. let stand in a cool place for 1 week or until the desired amount of flavor develops...
  8. strain through fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth twice
  9. store up to 6 months in a bottle or jar with a tight lid in the refrigerator
  10. makes 2 cups of vinegar

Hmmm, this sounds interesting and how to make a flavored vinegar, I like it. Thanks JJ. Actually one of most interesting I have read.


I want to try this. I suppose I could use frozen raspberries at this time of year. I love homemade dressings. Homemade vinegar will be even better.
