Pamelas Semi-homemade Pasta Sauce

- EVOO shopping list
- 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped shopping list
- 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped shopping list
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped shopping list
- handful fresh mushrooms, chopped (opt) shopping list
- 1 carrot chopped (opt) shopping list
- 1 celery stalk, chopped (opt) shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- Dash of kosher salt and pepper shopping list
- tsp basil shopping list
- tsp parsley shopping list
- tsp oregano shopping list
- tsp thyme shopping list
- 1/2 cup red wine shopping list
- 1 jar pasta sauce (or your own simple tomato sauce) shopping list
- (ground meat is optional, sometimes I add it and sometimes I don't) shopping list
How to make it
- In medium stockpot, saute first 6 veggies in EVOO, until soft
- You can use any additional veggies you like...or have on hand
- add garlic
- Add dash kosher salt and pepper
- Add herbs
- Saute for 1 minute
- Turn up heat and add red wine
- Cook for 1 minute
- Add pasta sauce
- (I use Hunts original, because it is simple, tomato sauce, but you can use any jarred sauce, or make your own)
- *I usually let it simmer 2 hours over very low heat, but once the sauce is warmed through it is ready. It gets better the longer you let it simmer!
- **serve over pasta, or any Italian dish of your choice
- ***It's also wonderful to make with ground beef and Italian sausage mixed in, served over wheat pasta!
- As you can see it has many variations! Enjoy!
