Ingredients

How to make it

  • In a medium-sized pot combine the sugars, corn syrup, and water. (We often leave the corn syrup out with no negative effects.)
  • Place on burner with high heat. Stir until the sugars are dissolved. At this point, the mixture will be boiling. (This takes approximately 5 minutes. You don't need to stir constantly, but do stir occasionally. My kids love to do this step for me.)
  • Cover the pot and reduce heat. Boil gently for 10 minutes. DO NOT STIR.
  • Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  • Add the vanilla and maple flavorings. (Butter flavoring, too, if you want.) Stir only until mixed.
  • Makes 1 quart.

I was thinking about looking for a recipe for maple flavored syrup. The other morning I made pancakes and reached for the syrup and it was all gone. I usually have a couple of bottles in reserve, but I guess I got behind on that.

Hi, I do a syrup like this and it is great. I use white and dark brown sugars, butter, maple flavoring and water. It is a great alternative to the bottled syrups and nice and warm too. I add chopped pecans at the end and a dash of half and half. Great minds.... thanks for sharing. Deb
