Hello Lily! I'm totally with my baby and CMx here! Vickie explained to me your post before I got on the computer to see it, and I was thinking they would be perfect in Thai green curry. I have a recipe for chicken with eggplant in Thai green curry that would be super for this! Anything with a good kick would be superb -- and, it would be easier to send them to me instead of CMx, since I live in the states ;-)

    Have fun with those!
    Ray

Over here they are pea aubergines, congratulations on getting your hands on them. Just throw them into a Thai green (or red) curry. Or any other curry or liquidy spicy dish (or send them to me!)

I'm also going to pull Shine/Ray in here and see if he can shed some more light and maybe share some recipe ideas with you. He's the man and he knows Thai. I'll be back.... :)

Hey Waterlily...happy Saturday! It sounds like you have become the proud owner of eggplants known as Thai Pea Eggplants/Thai Baby Eggplants/Kermit Eggplants.

They're harvested when the eggplants have a light green color and have a slight bitter taste and crisp texture. The eggplants are used whole in stir-frys and most delicious seasoned with curries and spices used in Thai cooking. They are also pickled and used in soups.

I think they would work in countless Thai dishes - and they sound delicious.

Here are some visuals for you - do you see them in this cast of eggplant characters?

Let us know what you end up making with them. Great find.

    Smiles,
    ~Vickie
