Lisa Ds Sugar Cookies

Here's a basic sugar cookie recipe. Makes several doz depending on size. It's not too sweet and great for cut outs and icing. These cookies have a firm outside but a softer inside. My families favorite combination!
Ingredients
- 3 sticks butter, softened shopping list
- 1 c. sugar shopping list
- 1 c. confectioners sugar shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 tsp lemon extract shopping list
- 5 c. flour shopping list
- 2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
How to make it
- Cream butter and sugars together until smooth
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla and lemon extracts
- Gradually add flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cover and chill dough for at least one hour (I seperate dough and wrap in 4 individual sheets of wax paper)
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Roll out dough on surface dusted with CONFECTIONERS SUGAR
- Best to stick within 1/4 - 1/2 in thick
- Cut into desired shapes
- Place 1 in apart on parchment lined cookie sheets
- Bake 6-8 mins depending on thickness....DO NOT OVER BAKE!
- Cool Completely
