Fried Apples--classic And Deluxe

- 6 medium-sized tart apples shopping list
- 2 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Cut the apples into quarters and remove the cores.
- Cut eash quarter lengthwise into three or four slices. (Cut out any blemishes or brown spots, but leave the peel on.)
- Melt the butter over low heat in a skillet with a cover.
- Add the apples, and stir lightly with a spatula to coat them with butter.
- Cover and cook for about 5 minutes to soften.
- Sprinkle the sugar over the apples. (Use the larger quantity if the apples are especially tart.)
- Turn them again with the spatula to spread the sugar around.
- Cook over medium-low heat for another 10 to 15 minutes, until the apples are soft and the sugar has begun to thicken into a light syrup.
- Serve warm.
