Gayla Jeans Chocolate Pound Cake

This delicious moist chocolate pound cake was a favorite in our Jacksonville, FL neighborhood. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar shopping list
- 3 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 5 Tbsp cocoa shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1 cup butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 Tbsp vanilla shopping list
- 5 eggs shopping list
- 1 1/4 cups milk shopping list
- ICING: 2 cup powdered sugar shopping list
- 3 Tbsp cocoa shopping list
- 2 Tbsp eleo shopping list
- 4 Tbsp canned milk OR regular shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
How to make it
- Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt together. Set aside.
- Cream sugar, butter and shortening.
- Add eggs one at a time to this butter mixture.
- Add vanilla.
- Alternating, add the milk and the flour mixture.
- Bake 1 1/2 hours in greased and floured tube pan at 325 degrees.
- FROSTING: Melt butter, do not boil.
- Mix all frosting ingredients together. Spread on cooled cake.
