How to make it

  • Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt together. Set aside.
  • Cream sugar, butter and shortening.
  • Add eggs one at a time to this butter mixture.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Alternating, add the milk and the flour mixture.
  • Bake 1 1/2 hours in greased and floured tube pan at 325 degrees.
  • FROSTING: Melt butter, do not boil.
  • Mix all frosting ingredients together. Spread on cooled cake.
