Baked Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon onion juice
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • Cabbage leaves
  • Flour for dredging
  • Oil for browning
  • 1-1/2 cups tomato sauce

Directions
  1. Mix first 6 ingredients.
  2. Cut out and discard hard center core of cabbage.
  3. Put cabbage in large pot and pour boiling water over it.
  4. Let stand until leaves are flexible and can easily be removed from the head.
  5. Fill each leaf with prepared mixture then roll up and fasten with toothpicks.
  6. Sprinkle with salt and dredge in flour then brown in fat.
  7. Add tomato sauce then cover and bake at 300 for 2 hours.

Oh I'm going to have to try this. I've never dredged them in flour nor fried prior to baking, but that sounds like it might really be good. We just had a couple of cabbage dishes last week. Bless that old friend of mine who just gave me tomatoes and cabbage from his root cellar! So I'll probably wait a bit but I'll let you know how they turned out.
