How to make it

  • Slice onions into rings then peel away the skin.
  • Separate rings and place them in a bowl.
  • Pour boiling water over all and allow to sit for 3 minutes.
  • Drain onions and return to the bowl.
  • Immediately cover with vinegar and cold water.
  • Add peppercorns and hot pepper.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.
