Cran-apple Crisp

- Filling: shopping list
- 3 medium baking apples, peeled and sliced, 3 cups shopping list
- 1 cup fresh cranberries (½ bag) shopping list
- 1 tsp. orange zest shopping list
- 1 TBSP. flour shopping list
- 1 TBSP. sugar shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar shopping list
- ½ cup flour shopping list
- ½ cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats shopping list
- ½ cup sliced almonds (optional) shopping list
- ¾ tsp. ground cinnamon shopping list
- ¾ tsp. ground nutmeg shopping list
- ⅓ cup butter, softened shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375° F.
- Grease bottom and sides of an 8 x8 inch baking dish.
- For the filling, in a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar and orange zest. Add the apples and cranberries and toss to coat. Pour into prepared baking dish.
- For the topping, in a medium bowl, add all topping ingredients except the butter and mix well.
- With a fork or wooden spoon, work in the butter until well incorporated. The mixture will be loose and crumbly. Evenly sprinkle the topping mixture over the apples and cranberries.
- Bake about 30 min. or until the topping is golden brown, the apples are tender when pierced with a fork and the cranberries have burst.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and/or whipped cream.
