How to make it

  • Combine all ingredients, stir and bring to a boil.
  • Stop stirring and let temperature reach 310 on a candy thermometer.
  • Remove from heat, and after it stops boiling:
  • Add 1 or 2 teaspoons of any flavoring you choose (make sure you use only pure flavoring or candy flavor oils, not extracts)
  • Add 1 or 2 drops of coloring, or as much as needed to get desired color.
  • Stir gently so it doesn't get cloudy and pour quickly and carefully in a buttered, foil lined cookie or jelly roll pan. If you don't stir too much, you get a stripy-swirly pattern - cool!!
  • Dust with powdered sugar.
  • (You can also cover the foil with powdered sugar and skip the butter part)
  • When completely cooled, crack and enjoy!

  • Colors / flavor combinations:
  • Cinnamon: Red - 3 -6 drops
  • Clove: Peach - 1 red, 3 yellow
  • Rose: Rose - 5 red, 1 blue
  • Pepperment: green - 3-6 drops
  • Grape: Purple - 3 red, 3 blue
  • Orange: Orange - 3red, 3 yellow
  • Lemon: Yellow - 3-6 drops
  • Anise: Turquois - 5 blue, 1 green
  • Etc, etc, etc.................
