Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

- 1/2 cup chopped onions shopping list
- 1 can cream of celery or cream of mushroom soup shopping list
- 3 oz cream cheese, cubed shopping list
- 3 to 4 cups frozen southern style hash browns shopping list
- 1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese shopping list
How to make it
- In 1 quart saucepan, over medium heat, cook onion until tender. Stir in soup and cream cheese cubes; cook, stirring constantly, until smooth and hot. In casserole, alternatively layer frozen potatoes and hot cream sauce ending with a sauce layer. Cover and bake 45 minutes at 400 degrees. Remove from oven and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Microwave: Place frozen potatoes and onions in 1 1/2 qt casserole. Cover and microwave on high power for 8-10 minutes, or until potatoes are tender. Stir together cream cheese and soup. Stir into potatoes; cover casserole and microwave on high 6-8 minutes or until center is hot. Top with shredded cheese and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
