This is a very old recipe made often by my mom and her mom.

Ingredients
  • 1 quart milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • Dash of salt
  • 1 9 inch pie shell
  • Nutmeg

Directions
  1. Mix all ingredients and pour into pie shell. Sprinkle top with nutmeg. Bake at 350 degrees until set, about an hour.

use a water bath to cook custard. set pie pan into apan with hot water will keep custard creamy and prevent dryness
