Baked Apples with a Hint of Christmas

- 4 large apples (I ise golden delicious) shopping list
- 2 tbsp raisins shopping list
- 1 tbsp butter shopping list
- 2 tbsp soft brown sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 2 tbsp Port (or any dessert wine, although it won't be the same) shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
How to make it
- Core the apples.
- Cut just the skin around the apples.
- Stand them in a baking dish.
- Work the butter with the sugar and cinnamon.
- When well blended, add the Port mixing well so that it is all absorbed.
- Add the raisins.
- Stuff the apples.
- Pour 1 cup water in the dish.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven (moderate) for about 30 minutes.
- The butter mixture will permeate the apples and melt into the water producing a lovely sauce.
- The apples will puff up as they bake, and look most uninviting - don't be fooled!
- If you want, serve with a dollop of whipped cream.
