How to make it

  • Core the apples.
  • Cut just the skin around the apples.
  • Stand them in a baking dish.
  • Work the butter with the sugar and cinnamon.
  • When well blended, add the Port mixing well so that it is all absorbed.
  • Add the raisins.
  • Stuff the apples.
  • Pour 1 cup water in the dish.
  • Bake in a pre-heated oven (moderate) for about 30 minutes.
  • The butter mixture will permeate the apples and melt into the water producing a lovely sauce.
  • The apples will puff up as they bake, and look most uninviting - don't be fooled!
  • If you want, serve with a dollop of whipped cream.
