This cookie is one of my favorites. Still warm from the oven, I grab a few with a big glass of cold milk.

  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • granulated sugar

Directions
  1. In large bowl beat your 1 cup sugar, butter, molasses and egg until light and fluffy.
  2. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off.
  3. Then, stir (or mix on low) your flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, ginger, cloves and nutmeg - mix well.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour (makes for easier handling).
  5. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in the granulated sugar.
  7. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets (I use air-bake).

  9. Cookies will puff up and then flatten during baking.
  10. Cool 1 minute and then remove from cookie sheets.
