Frosted Maple Pecan White Chip Cookies

- 3 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 2 teaspoons baking soda shopping list
- 2 cups packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1 cup vegetable shortening shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 1 teaspoon maple flavoring or maple syrup shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 (12-ounce) package white chocolate morsels or chips shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans shopping list
- 1 cup pecan halves, about 60 shopping list

- Maple Frosting: shopping list
- 4 cups powdered or confectioner's sugar shopping list
- 4 tablespoons or more milk shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 1 teaspoon maple flavoring or syrup shopping list
How to make it
- Combine flour and baking soda in a medium bowl.
- Beat brown sugar, vegetable shortening, butter, eggs, maple flavoring and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl until creamy.
- Gradually beat in flour mixture.
- Stir in morsels and chopped pecans.
- Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.
- Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
- Spread with Maple Frosting; top each cookie with pecan half.

- For Maple Frosting:
- Combine powdered sugar, milk, butter and maple flavoring (or syrup) in a medium bowl; stir until smooth.
- Makes 60 cookies.
