- 1 can (6-1/2 oz.) minced clams shopping list
- 2 T diced onion shopping list
- 5 T butter or margarine, divided shopping list
- 2 T flour shopping list
- 3-1/2 t prepared horseradish shopping list
- 1/4 t garlic powder shopping list
- 1/4 t worcestershire sauce shopping list
- dash of salt shopping list
- 9 slices of white bread, crusts removed shopping list
- paprika shopping list
How to make it
- Drain clams, reserving juice; set aside.
- In a skillet, saute onion in 1 tablespoon of butter until tender.
- Stir in flour until blended.
- Gradually add horseradish, garlic power, worcestershire sauce, salt and reserved clam juice.
- Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or unti thickened.
- Remove from heat; stir in clams.
- Flatten bread with a rolling pin.
- Melt remaining butter; brush one side of each slice of bread.
- Spread with clam mixture; roll up.
- Brush with remaining butter; sprinkle with paprika.
- Cut rolls into thirds; place on a greased baking sheet
- Bake at 425 deg. F for 5-8 minutes or until lightly brown.
- Serve warm
- Yield: 27 appetizers
