This is a delicious beef brisket recipe for Rosh HaShana and it is from Lisa Katz at About.com. It's one of my favorites and the meat always turns out sweet and tender.

Ingredients
  • 1 (5 - 7 lb.) brisket, washed and drained
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup Coca-Cola
  • Note: I have also used apple cider and apple juice.
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 4-5 Tbsp. ketchup
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 tsp. Keene's mustard powder
  • My personal addition is 2 apples cored and cut in quarters.
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika

Directions
  1. Chop all seasonings in food processor and pour over brisket.
  2. Marinate overnight.
  3. Cook at 350 degrees fahrenheit, loosely covered, until done, approximately 4 to 5 hours.
  4. When cool, pour the gravy in a saucepan.
  5. Add 1 Tbsp. flour and cook until thickens.
  6. Pour this gravy over sliced meat when serving.
