How to make it

  • Base: Cream eggs and sugar with vanilla essence.
  • Fold in nuts and chocolate.
  • Pour into greased 30 cm baking form.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes in a 220 deg C oven.
  • Allow to cool before adding filling.
  • Filling: Pour cherries with juice from one bottle into saucepan and warm slowly.
  • Mix with cornflour with some of the reserved to a paste.
  • Thicken sour cherries mix with cornflour until reasonably firm.
  • Add more juice if necessary.
  • Allow to cool to lukewarm temperature.
  • Pour into cooked and cooled base.
  • Serve: with natural yoghurt or sour cream.

    This is Very popular in Germany so I have added it all my German groups. My Aunt made this all the time but I'm just not a big cakes/pies fan.
