How to make it

  • Beat egg whites until foamy.
  • Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Fold in remaining ingredients.
  • Pour into well buttered 9 inch pie pan.
  • Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
  • Cool and top with whipped cream (or Cool Whip).
  • Add strawberries or raspberries (optional)
  • Can also be served with ice cream instead of the whipped cream.

    If you've never tried this pie before, you have to now. My Grandmother and Mother made this pie every Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is sweet and rich - don't let the name fool you. You don't taste the crackers, it's like heaven in your mouth. Especially with real whipped cream. This recipe is almost identical to theirs, so it should be perfect!
