Buttermilk Spice Doughnuts

A great recipe for a Halloween celebration!
Ingredients
- buttermilk spice Doughnuts shopping list
- 1 c sugar shopping list
- 2 Eggs; well beaten shopping list
- 1/4 c Soft shortening shopping list
- 4 c flour shopping list
- 2 ts baking powder shopping list
- 1 ts baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 ts salt shopping list
- 1/4 ts nutmeg shopping list
- 1 c buttermilk shopping list
- Gradually add sugar to eggs, beating well after shopping list
- each addition. Beat in shortening. Sift together shopping list
- dry ingredients. Add to sugar mixture alternately shopping list
- with buttermilk, mixing well after each addition. shopping list
- Chill dough. Turn dough onto floured pastry cloth shopping list
- or board. Knead 3-4 times to form a ball. Cut in shopping list
- half. roll each half about 1/3" thick and cut with shopping list
- a sharp cutter. Fry in hot fat. shopping list
