How to make it

  • Cream sugar and butter, stir in eggs not beaten, add bananas mixed with soda.
  • Add milk, flour, nuts, salt and vanilla.
  • Bake 30-35 minutes in 2 greased and lightly floured 9 inch cake pans. 350 degrees.
  • Frost with Sanders Butter Cream Frosting.

  • Sanders Butter Cream Frosting
  • Beat 1 egg white stiff.
  • Add 1 c white sugar--1 teaspoon at a time and keep beating.
  • Boil 1 cup of milk and add 1 teaspoon at a time to the egg white mixture---then let cool.
  • Cream 1/2 cup butter (1/4 pound) and 1/2 cup Spry.
  • Then add the cooled mixture 1 teaspoon at a time to the creamed butter and Spry.
  • Spread on cake.
  • Sufficient for 2 layer or large cake.

    My grandmother used Spry it is like Crisco,I don't think they make it anymore.This receipe looks really good!Thankyou!

    Yes, spry is shortening. I think spry was the brand name. this was quite a few years back. lol
