How to make it

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  • Prepare the apples, toss with one tablespoon brown sugar and 1 tablespoon butter.
  • Roast in the prepared pan, covered loosely with foil, for 15 minutes or until tender.
  • Lower oven heat to 350 degrees.
  • Prepare recipe using 2 cups of flour for biscuit or yeast dough (part whole-wheat if desired), or use thawed prepared dough.
  • Roil out on a lightly floured surface to make a 9-inch square.
  • Mix the 1/2 cup brown sugar withpecans and cinnamon.
  • Chop in 4 tablespoons of butter.
  • Sprinke the mixture on top of the dough.
  • Cover evenly with roasted apples.
  • Roll up, jelly roll style, and cut crosswise into 9 slices.
  • Arrange and bake in prepared pan until golden, 35 - 40 minutes.
  • Transfer to a rack to cool.
  • Prepare the glaze by bringing to a boil the remaining 5 ingredients in a small saucepan.
  • Whisk over the heat for about 2 minutes, to thicken a bit.
  • Let cool slightly.
  • Drizzle sauce over the warm buns that have been transferred to a serving plate.
