How to make it

  • Sift flour, powder, salt and sugar together. Add sufficint milk to make a stiff batter. Add vanilla and nuts.
  • Meanwhile, caramelize 1/2 cup sugar in heavy skillet and add 3 cups hot water, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 tbsp butter and a pinch of salt.
  • Allow to boil toether for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Pour into baking dish and dop batter by teaspon full in boiling hot syrup.
  • Place in hot oven, at 400 degrees.
  • Bake 15 to 20 minutes until puffed up and brown.
  • Serve Hot.
