Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 cups hot water,
  • 1 cup granulated sugar,
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • pinch of salt

Directions
  1. Sift flour, powder, salt and sugar together. Add sufficint milk to make a stiff batter. Add vanilla and nuts.
  2. Meanwhile, caramelize 1/2 cup sugar in heavy skillet and add 3 cups hot water, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 tbsp butter and a pinch of salt.
  3. Allow to boil toether for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Pour into baking dish and dop batter by teaspon full in boiling hot syrup.
  5. Place in hot oven, at 400 degrees.
  6. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until puffed up and brown.
  7. Serve Hot.
