An easy cake that you can bake while you do something else. Put your slow cooker to work doing something different!

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or butter flavoring
  • 1 can apple pie filling
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • shortening

Directions
  1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add egg and mix well.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add dry ingredients, milk and vanilla to butter mixture.
  5. Beat until blended.
  6. Put batter into greased and floured slow cooker casserole insert.
  7. With cover slightly ajar, cook on high 2 hours or until done.
  8. Let stand on cake rack for 10 minutes.
  9. Remove from insert and finish cooling on rack.
  10. When cool, place on large plate or cake serving tray.
  11. Topping:
  12. Heat pie filling in a small saucepan until steaming.
  13. Mix in cinnamon.
  14. Pour over cake.
