Tamale Pie

- 1 lb ground beef shopping list
- 1 cup chopped onions shopping list
- 1 cup chopped green peppers shopping list
- 2 8 oz cans tomato sauce shopping list
- 1 6 oz can drained kernel corn shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 3 tsp chili powder shopping list
- Dash pepper shopping list
- cheese, all you desire shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- 3/4 cup yellow corn meal shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 cups cold water shopping list
- 1 Tbsp butter shopping list
How to make it
- Cook ground beef, onions and green peppers until meat is lightly browned and vegetables tender. Stir in tomato sauce, corn, garlic, sugar, salt, chili powder and pepper. Simmer 20-25 minutes, or until thick. Add cheese; stir until melted. Turn into greased
- 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish. Topping: Stir corn meal and salt into cold water. Cook and stir until thick. Add butter and mix well. Spoon over hot meat mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.

My mom made this when I was a kid and I have been wanting the recipe - now I have it! Thanks so much for bringing childhood memories back!

This is a classic. I added some beans, and used turkey instead of beef. We love our dishes really spicy, so I threw some chipotles in there too.
