Edith Bristows No Knead Raised Twists

- 1/2 cup of shortening shopping list
- 3 tbsp of sugar shopping list
- 1 1/2 teas of salt shopping list
- 1 tsp of vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 cup of scalded milk shopping list
- 2 packages of dry yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water shopping list
- 3 cups of sifted flour, divided shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 3/4 cups of chopped nuts shopping list
- 1/2 cup of sugar shopping list
- 1 generous teaspoon of cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Combine shortening, sugar, salt, vanilla, and scalded milk.
- Add yeast mixture and mix well.
- Blend in 1/2 of the flour (1 1/2 cups) and beat until just blended.
- Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
- Add beaten eggs one at a time beating quite firmly after each addition.
- Blend in the remaining 1 1/2 cups of flour, mix thoroughly.
- Dough is quite soft.
- Let rise in 80-90 degree temp in covered bowl for about 1/2 hour.
- Combine, nuts, sugar and cinnamon.
- Divide dough in small pieces with a tablespoon.
- Roll each piece in sugar nut mixture.
- Stretch and twist into 8 inch long pieces.
- Place on a greased baking sheet.
- Let rest for 10 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Bake 12-15 minutes.
- Makes 24
- Can be iced if desired.

What a great "find" to come across - they sound simple enough, and so tasty. Another one to add to the "Must Try" pile...I'll be baking until I'm 128!!!
