This is my sister Myra’s recipe. She makes them every time we have a cookout and they get gobbled up.

Ingredients
  • 1 Lb. ground beef
  • 1 can (53 oz) can of Van Camp’s Pork-n-Beans (no flavor)
  • ½ (12 oz) pack of bacon
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 sm. jar Bar-B-Q sauce (thick and spicy with brown sugar flavor)
  • 3 Tbs. maple pancake syrup (honey may be substituted)

Directions
  1. Brown ground meat and drain
  2. Fry bacon medium crispy and cut into ½ inch pieces
  3. Preheat oven to 400 deg.
  4. Add all of the ingredients into a Pyrex dish and mix well without smashing the beans.
  5. Bake uncovered for 40-50 minutes. (Bubbling good but not burning)

I had never heard of putting ground beef into pork n beans until a few weeks ago. This sounds great and easy and will be a side dish for the LSU game today!
