- Pie crust……… shopping list
- 1 -1/3 - cups flour shopping list
- 1/2 - teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/4 -teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/2- cup shortening shopping list
- 1/2- cup walnuts ….chopped shopping list
- 2- tablespoons water shopping list
- 1- tablespoon vinegar shopping list
- ************************* shopping list
- Filling………. shopping list
- 4- slightly beaten eggs shopping list
- 3/4 - cup maple syrup shopping list
- 1/4 - teaspoon salt shopping list
- 3- cups milk .scalded shopping list
- 1/2- teaspoon maple flavoring shopping list
How to make it
- PIE CRUST..................
- To make pie crust in this 1944 recipe, sift the flour , salt, and baking powder together.
- Cut in shortening until it has been evenly mixed.
- Stir in chopped walnuts.
- Combine water and vinegar, add just enough flour mixture to make a stiff dough.
- Place dough in a 9 inch pie tin and flute edges

- Beat the eggs slightly, then add your maple syrup and salt…
- …
- Gradually stir in the scalded milk.
- Add the flavoring.
- Pour the mixture into your unbaked pie shell.
- Bake at 450 degrees F. for 10 minutes;
- Reduce heat to 350 degrees f. and bake 25 to 30 minutes longer or until the custard is set………
- Make sure the pie is cooled before serving
- Serves 6-8 depending on size cut
