Whole Wheat Biscuits

- 2 cups whole wheat flour shopping list
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
How to make it
- Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
- Cut in shortening.
- Make a "well" in the center of the dry ingredients: add milk all at once and stir until just mixed.
- Turn out onto lighlty floured pastry cloth-DO NOT KNEAD.
- Roll into rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut into 2 inch squares and place on greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 450 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes of until nicely browned.

I made this on a cast iron griddle while camping this weekend. They were fantastic--tender, flaky, and they split perfectly. Recommended.
