Strawberry Banana Dessert From Paula Deen Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted

1 (3-ounce) package instant strawberry-banana gelatin

1/2 cup boiling water

1 (12-ounce) can very cold evaporated milk

3/4 cup sugar

1-1/2 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed

3 bananas, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces

sweetened whipped cream

strawberries

confectioners’ sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a small bowl, combine vanilla wafer crumbs, brown sugar, and butter.

Press firmly into bottom and 1 inch up sides of a 9 inch spring form pan. Bake 8 minutes then let cool.

In a small bowl, combine gelatin and boiling water, stirring until gelatin dissolves and set aside.

In a large bowl, beat very cold evaporated milk with an electric mixer until foamy.

With mixer running, gradually add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time.

Beat until thick and fluffy, about 8 minutes.

Stir in gelatin mixture and whipped topping.

Place banana slices evenly over bottom of prepared pan.

Pour strawberry mixture over bananas.

Cover and chill overnight.

To serve, remove sides of pan, and garnish with sweetened whipped cream and strawberries and dust with confectioners’ sugar.

Makes 1 (9-inch) cake
