Beer Cheese Bread

- 12 OZ beer either lager (Bud, Bush etc) or Dark (Guinness) shopping list
- Guinness gives the bread a dark rustic colour shopping list
- 1/2 Cup warm water shopping list
- 2 TBSP sugar shopping list
- 1 TBSP salt shopping list
- 2 TBSP butter shopping list
- 8 OZ grated Swiss or American cheese (Kraft Deli Slices) cut up shopping list
- 5-6 Cups flour shopping list
- 2 PKG regular yeast (not instant rise) shopping list
How to make it
- In a saucepan, combine beer, water, sugar, salt, butter & cheese
- Over low/med, heat the mixture stirring often until it steams and cheese is melty. DO NOT BOIL
- Remove from heat and let cool to lukewarm, about 100 Fahrenheit
- In a large bowl combine 2 cups flour with yeast
- Add warm cheese mixture (if it is too hot it'll kill your yeasties)
- Combine well with wooden spoon
- Stir in remaining flour to make a stiff bread dough
- Knead properly
- Let rise until double
- Punch down and form into 2 loaves
- Let these rise until double again
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 50 minutes or until they are done
- Remove from oven
- Rub the end of a butter stick over them and sprinkle lightly with Kosher salt.
