While standing in line at the grocery store I noticed a Christmas cookie booklet. I thumbed through it and saw one I really wanted to play with. So this idea came from a book but I've made it so simple that a child can make these. I made these twice. Once using the recipe above and once using a boxed package of sugar cookie mix, following the directions on the box. Both worked. The candies in the book called for kisses. I had a bag of mini candy bars so I cut them in half and used them instead. I also used carmel squares cut in half. I used mars bars, milky way, duds and snickers. They all have their own special flavor added to the cookie. In the book, the cookies were covered in cocoa and sugar. These don't need any of this. The nuts I used were almonds but that just happens to be what I had on hand. Pecans and walnuts would both work great.
