Shrimp Creole

- butter-flavored cooking spray shopping list
- chopped celery 3/4 cup shopping list
- green pepper 1/2 cup chopped shopping list
- onion 3/4 cup chopped shopping list
- minced garlic 2 teaspoons shopping list
- water 1/4 to 3/4 cup as needed shopping list
- lean ham diced 3/4 cup shopping list
- whol tomatoes 1 (28-ounce) can including liquid shopping list
- tomato sauce 1 (8-ounce) can shopping list
- chili powder 1 teaspoon shopping list
- cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon shopping list
- file powder (cajun seasoning) 1 teaspoon shopping list
- hot sauce 1/2 to 1 teaspoon shopping list
- cooked shrimp 1 1/2 pounds med. size shopping list
- cooked rice shopping list
How to make it
- Coat skillet with cooking spray
- saute celery, green pepper, onion and garlic till onion becomes transparent. Gradually add water to the pan, as needed to keep veggies from sticking to pan.
- add ham and continue to saute for 2 or 3 min.
- stir in canned tomatoes, including the juice, and the tomato sauce.
- add chili powder, cayenne pepper, cajun seasoning, and hot sauce.
- Stir ingredients to blend well and allow to simmer uncovered for about 20 min.
- add shrimp and simmer for 10 min more.
- serve over hot rice.
