Baked Apples In Pastry

- Pastry for six single-crust pies OR store-bought puff pastry sheets shopping list
- 6 lagre granny smith apples, peeled and cored shopping list
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened shopping list
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar shopping list
- 1 tablespoon cardamom shopping list
How to make it
- Make pastry (if using).
- Divide into 6 balls.
- Flatten and wrap in plastic, separately.
- Chill 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Peel and core apples.
- Mix together the butter, brown sugar and cardamom.
- Fill apples.
- Roll pastry to 8" rounds.
- Place apple on top.
- Gently press dough around sides of apples.
- Leave opening at top.
- Place apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Chill for 30 minutes.
- Bake in the middle of the oven for 45 minutes.
- Cool for 10 minutes.
- Serve with French vanilla ice cream.
