How to make it

  • Stir together flour,baking powder,ginger,soda,and salt.
  • In large bowl,beat eggs till thick and lemon colored.
  • Beat in sugar,sour cream,molasses,and 1/4 cup cooking oil.
  • Stir in dry ingredients(just till moistened)
  • Roll out on lightly floured surface to a 9" square about 3/4" thick.
  • Cut into nine strips of 1" wide.
  • Cut each strip in half crosswise.
  • Shape strips of dough into 12" ropes.
  • Fold in half.
  • Twist several times.
  • Pinch to secure ends.
  • Fry in deep hot oil for about 2 to 3 minutes or till done.
  • Drain on paper towels that have been placed over brown paper sacks.
  • Dip Warm Doughnuts in lemon glaze.
  • Lemon Glaze:
  • Combine 2 Cups sifted powdered sugar,2 tablespoons milk,1 teaspoon grated fresh lemon peel(no white,please),and 1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice.Stir till smooth.
  • Makes about 18 Twisted Doughnuts
