German Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies

- Topping shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 cup evaporated milk shopping list
- 1 stick butter, softened shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 3 egg yolks, beaten shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped shopping list
- cookies shopping list
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix, pudding included shopping list
- 1/3 cup butter, melted shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350
- In saucepan, add sugar, milk, butter, vanilla, and egg yolks and cook over medium heat 10-13 minutes until thick and bubbly,
- stirring often
- Stir in coconut and pecans
- Let cool to room temp.
- Reserve 1 1/4 cups of mixture
- In mixing bowl, add cookie ingredients and remaining topping mixture
- Stir until moistened and combined
- Shape dough into 1 inch balls
- Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets
- Make indentation in center of each ball with thumb
- Fill with 1/2 tsp. of topping mixture
- Bake for 10-13 minutes
- Cool on rack completely
